30 km from Serres, you will encounter Lailias (tel. +30 6974 888 969), the favourite mountain of the inhabitants of Serres, overgrown with rich flora and fauna.

It is worth a visit all seasons of the year.

If it is winter, you will visit it to go skiing - day or night - on its ski pistes or for a cup of coffee at the chalet, surrounded by snow.

In the warmer months you can go hiking on its numerous trails, visit “Sfagnonas” - the paleobotanical museum of nature -, as well as “Katigka’s Rock” with its famous legend.

After visiting Mount Lailias, descend for a guided tour of the city: museums, Ottoman monuments, Serres Racing Cicuit, “Koulas”, Ai Yiannis, Agioi Anargyroi Valley, a walk through the pedestrian streets and the central square

 The city is also full of top quality restaurants and taverns; however, you will find excellent food at taverns in Ai Yiannis, too.

In the afternoon you can pay a visit to the Monastery of Timios Prodromos of Serres (tel. +302321074544), 12 km from the city, up high on Mount Menikio in a verdant and wooded area. The Byzantine interest of the Monastery, its famous iconostasis, the devoutness at vesper give visitors an opportunity for retreat, contemplation, tranquility and enjoyment of the rich nature that surrounds it. The Olive Press Museum is also great and is worth a visit.
